I can’t tell my hands to do two different things at once… doesn’t work… I have to tell them what to do in what order and what at the same time -.-

I quite agree, thank you for your videos, they are brilliant. I have only watched a couple so far, but your circle of fifths video really helped me finally crack reading keys on sheet music. I had always struggled with that before. Thank you for the brilliant resources!

Hi, I tried your technique but it took me an EXTREMELY long time just to play one full line of the song I’m working on…took like two hours. I always wrote down what all the notes are on the music before I started playing and that’s what worked for me. The memorizing thing is what was really driving me nuts. I’m also afraid that if I could memorize all the notes/beats and I didn’t play the song for awhile than I’m dead meat because I would have to go back and start again from scratch.

    It will happen…

But what I’ve noticed, is that when you practice a piece long enough, not only do you memorize the piece consciously, but you manage to memorize it subconsciously. You’re muscles memorize (*Muscle memory!*). Because of this, when I go and play a piece I haven’t played for quite a while, I still tend to make a mistake in playing here or there; but after those mistakes, I’m perfectly capable of playing the piece again.

I hope that mitigates your worries!

Those are right Andrew. My experiences learned piano/songs by finding good arrangements of every songs, and involved myself emotionally of song idea/theme. Thank You very much anyway for best lesson.

Same here I just learn the song by the sheetmusic (kinda like in the vid) but i don´t tend to memorize them and ones i can play it with the sheetmusic it really doesn´t take long to be able to do it without it .You will memorize it just by playing it enough times through and if you hadn´t played it for a while its easier to get through it aggain cause you have learned it whith reading the sheet while playing not by reading. memorize playing!!!

  18. ThePianojoe says:

This works good for me kinda could be difficult for some of you but if you play with emotion and have fun playing it will just go automatically!

  19. azndoll2 says:

how come the volume on your videos are so low? i have to really crank it up to hear

  20. fingerboy18 says:

How can you imagine certain pitches away from your instrument? I do not have perfect pitch.

I also want to ask how do I learn a very fast, complex song by ear? I can learn a simple song in just a few minutes. It’s very easy to anticipate. The music I want to learn has absolutely no intuitive form.

This helped me so much! Andrew is like the coolest teacher ever why can’t I be from Canada?! :D

  22. Green12324 says:

I don’t think he expects us to imagine it perfectly at first, but just have an idea of how it’s supposed to sound.

  23. twilight87ful says:
