thank u bass whisperer, i saw this guitar a month ago and thought wow i wounder what this woyld sound like (cuz it looks so cool). you have answered my prayers, and this one is affordable
It looks interesting for sure, but he sure skimped on the sound samples of regular finger style playing, the bread and butter of most bass players.
I don’t feel like I have enough in this clip to evaluate much as a result.
But cool slap and pick stuff. :-/
yeah I liked it.
Dude, this is a PREVIEW. The full review has all 16 pickup configurations played finger, slap, and pick style. So be patient, it’ll be up in amonth or so.
No fair! You make everything sound good Ed… very versatile! Just wondering if the neck is closer to a P or J size?
Greetings from the Gnome in Tucson!
Hail to the Gnome! The neck is Jazz-like.
I can’t wait to get a chance to try this one. I hated the looks at first, but it’s growing on me.
Lol I bet he ends up buying or keeping that bass or the same model
Great preview once again Ed! This bass has a slightly more hifi tone than the other models in the musicman line. I really like the versatility as well, some cool p-bass-esq tones in there. The slap tone is simply righteous!!! Please tell me it will be available in a 5 string version as well. Loved your playing as always. Cheers!!!
Cool!
this bass sounds wicked
Love the the 2nd pickup solo.
I’ve seen it in a store this last Tuesday.
I didn’t imagine it could sound so good, since it is ugly as sin LOL
That bass is uglier than a smacked arse. No matter how good it may or may not sound, the looks alone would make me run a mile.
Yeah, it’s a nice bass, but I can’t get past the looks of the pickguard. Maybe in other colors the “Jetsons” vibe will work better.
i’m thinking of buying one of these and a non-finished Stingray body where i could stack everything in it…
good idea?
Strikes me as a bad idea, but… I suppose as long as you don’t destroy anything you can always put it back together. The 25th Anniversary model comes in an HSS setup which has the same mid and neck position pickups. Eventually I believe they will offer this configuration on other basses.
Wow, that bass looks like pure sex! How did it feel Ed? (possible respone) Ed: “It felt like a musicman”.
Btw, I am sure you have heard this many many times, but you’re a real badass man. It will take me forever to obtain good skill, and I don’t think I would still be anywhere close to you. I love these vids, it’s cool to hear how these instruments sound.
Oh ok. Thanks.
sounds good, but jeez, is it ugly!!!!
I don’t get tired to watch this video…
Think I’ve watched 30 times so far…
u know why its as ugly as sin? cuz it looks like a jaguar. and a jaguar is a fender. and fender sucks. so there you go…but i do like the jazz bass. but nothing else! uggh i wanna plug my ears when someone tries to slap w/ a p bass. but i had to let ppl know i don’t like fender somewhere.
1more4carhur,
I think you need to see an eye Dr. The only thing this bass has in common with a Jaguar is the multitude of buttons and a shorter lower horn.
Relative to your comment on Fenders.. your loss is my gain. By the way, I own Jazz, Precision and Jaguar, try a Jaguar if you like to slap.
Thats some smoke!!!! Whew!
Man, that coil 2 is in the sweet spot. Coil 3 sounded a bit too tubby to me and I personally question the angle at which coil 1 sits. If it was angled the other way, with the E string magnet being closest to the bridge and the G string being farthest, it’d give a much more even and less nasal tone.
