Try the video from -93, solo in “Lazy” and when he is plaýing with Gary Moore, drums solo in “Hurricane”. Also very nice!

That’s because he knows he can call on his skills at any time, and they’ll be right there.

I think this is the origin of the infamous “30 minute drum solo” from the 1970s. The Grateful Dead use to do them when Jerry Garcia was to tired to sing from being wasted. Took up a full side of an LP set in Made in Japan. I think the reference to Lucifer is that the audience is about to enter living hell, as all long rock drum solos are.

  14. charlessavarese says:

Yes, but this is one of the few that’s bearable, and entertaining from start to finish.

Recorded live for the Danish TV at the KB Hallen in Copenhagen, March 1st 1972. Amazing gig, maybe even better than Made In Japan. Available on DVD and on Double CD – Black Night In Copenhagen.
