Tapping and Harmonics Solo Bass – ‘Epic Love’, Zander Zon

Epic Love is an original composition I wrote several years ago for my girlfriend. As I am the world's worst singer, I wanted to try to write a sort of love song on the bass - which proved extremely challenging! Michael Manring's 'Selene' and 'Music for Armchair Funambulists' (which, in my opinion, is one of the best pieces of music ever written) showed me it was possible... 'Epic Love' is an original piece of music, protected by COPYRIGHT with all rights reserved.

You’re damn right.. I guess just wait and let’s be proud to be one of those who have already seen it. I have already shown it to most of my friends, if there’s a guy on Youtube that should be supported then it’s you Zander. :) You’re definitely my favorite “Youtube-musician” and solo-bassist.
What’d really interest me.. how is the name of that reverb source you’re using? Would love to try it out! And.. is the cd already done and buy-able? ;)

This is incredible!!! What gauge strings do you use? They look like 30′s or 35′s

That is the most beautiful piece of music I have ever heard on a bass! I wish I could play like that. I do play bass, but not even close to this caliber.. You rock man!!

Are harmonics where you place your fingers on top of the metal frets slightly?

I’m watching this with my jaw agape, i can’t believe the melodies you are getting out of this instrument. very tasteful use of effects, well done!

  24. afocused1 says:

They are when you put your finger on the string above the fret, just enough to stop it from vibrating after is is plucked/picked. These are called natural harmonics.
