The proper way to restring a guitar by Bill Baker

Guitar Tech Bill Baker of NJ teaches you his way to restring an electric and acoustic guitar along with tips to clean, lube, and check over your guitar so you can get the best from it. Bill has done work for BLUE CHEER, Ace Frehley of KISS, The MISFITS, Richie Ranno of STARZ, Leslie West, The NERDS, and many more to name his top clients and friends. That's "BIG BENDS Nut Sauce" I'm using as a lube, and it's the best I've found. More on that product in the next video coming soon on ...

arent you supposed to restring it ever 6-8 weeks? Bill is probably talking about someone who is in a band and plays for 2 or 3 hours hard every day

  12. theoriginalsuprise says:

    fuck haha me too. goddammit.

  13. theoriginalsuprise says:

yeah i did that haha. i thought you only restring it when you break a string. but i got a les paul and the guy told me to do it every 3 weeks. (i play all day every single day.)

If you are in a band you should put on new strings for EVERY gig. Playing a dead set of strings on stage is not only dumb, it’s unprofessional. I’m sure the venue will give you $7 for strings.

  17. guynormas says:

Thanks,I always get my mate to set up my new guitars, even though I can’t play properly (my strings have been on for 6-7 years, think I can change them properly myself.(all I have to do is learn to play properly)

  18. Azrael888 says:

  19. Azrael888 says:

Ah I think I realized you lifted the G string up when doing that but you didnt with bottom E right

there are so many “thats what she said”‘s in this video.. good vid tho.. thanks

  21. kempobrad says:

make sure the strings are rightly wrapped (stacked) on top of each other with no gaps, no crossing etc…this will allow the string to keep slipping.
